Faith Milestones

Faith Milestones exist to cultivate and commemorate faith development so we don’t forget God’s faithfulness. There are three faith milestones from 6th-12th grade:

Stewardship & Service: 5th-6th grade children learn about stewardship, participate in Operation Christmas Child, and begin to assist in worship in various ways from reading Scripture to serving as ushers.

Roots of the Faith (aka Confirmation): 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to explore redemptive history, important creeds of the church, and distinctives of our denomination while developing a personal discipleship plan and fostering involvement in the body of Christ. At the end of the class, students affirm their faith/baptism during worship and have the opportunity to join El Montecito Presbyterian Church as a covenant partner.

Local & Global Engagement: 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students explore their gifts, practice sharing their faith, and find a place to serve. They are encouraged to lead an outreach event or participate in local or global ministries supported by ELMO Pres.

Graduation Celebration & Commissioning: 12th grade students discuss how to take their faith to college and beyond as they begin to explore apologetics and practice personal discipleship plans. Commemorative Event is a senior dessert and celebration for parents and leaders and a commissioning during worship.
